Føgrà is a graphic artist, graphic designer, painter & illustrator. She was born in Rīga, during Soviet occupation, to jazz musicians. Her images are largely influenced by her classical music education. After earning a BA degree in Graphic Arts, Føgrà traveled to New York City, a move that she attributes to musicians like Sting who infected her with such harmonies that pulled her straight out of the tuneless and harsh realities of her past.

“I was five when I spent one of many summers at my grandmother’s house. I recall entering a cinema where she operated the ticket booth: that weekend featured a local premiere of Oliver Twist directed by Clive Donner. We passed the main lobby and headed into the staff-only territory. The sound of wheezing and grunting intensified, until a Fagin-like figure emerged from the shadows. This drunkard painted posters for films triple my size. It was there in that grim, dump, permeated by the stench of tobacco, tiniest of theatres where Oliver lived a grueling life of an orphan over and over again, that my interest with the raw human condition commenced, along with a method of depicting it into a singular image. My fate of making film posters was sealed.”

Føgrà is an artist behind Penguin Random House’s N°1 Amazon and New York Times bestseller book “Beyond Order” that is sprinkled with classical imagery. She’s also a graphic designer behind “Best of Bob Marley” album cover art from Tuff Gong, a record label founded by Bob Marley in 1970. She’s also behind the poster for a film from an American actress Rutanya Alda who starred in “The Dear Hunter”, “Rocky II” and others alongside Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken and Sylvester Stalone. Her new film “Land of the Mustaches” was edited by David Ray, the legendary editor behind the “Scarface” and “A Bronx Tale” and directed by Leon Joosen who is behind “The Little Mermaid II” and “Scooby-Doo II” animations. Rutanya was married to Richard Bright, the star of “The Godfather’s I and III” and “Once Upon a Time in America”. Føgrà created the poster while working closely with David Ray.

Føgra recently worked with the director and producer of “Echo Boomers,” which starred Michael Shannon and Patrick Schwarzenegger, to create a poster for his forthcoming TV show “The Merc”. And now working with producer and screenwriter TJ Mancini on a poster for a TV series “Hitman’s Funeral” which will star Al Pacino and Charlize Theron.
